Here are four reasons why this autumn may be the best time to sell.

I’ve received this question quite a bit lately: “When is the best time to sell our home?” Here are four reasons why this autumn may be the best time:

1. You’ll likely sell quickly. Five years ago, the average days on market was over 60. Currently, the average is about 20 days, and that average keeps shrinking. We don’t know how long this will last, so you might want to take advantage of these shorter time frames while we have them.

2. Buyers will compete for your home. Even with the shorter time frames, we’re still getting multiple offers on most properties. The National Association of Realtors recently released survey results that show that on average, homes are getting 4.5 offers. That means you could make more on your sale.

3. Inventory is still low. With the extreme lack of inventory, your home will be more in the spotlight. If you want to take advantage of the heightened buyer demand and get the most attention on your house, now is the time to sell.

4. If you’re looking to move up. If you’re considering upsizing, now may be an excellent time. Homeowners are gaining equity these days because of increasing sale prices. That coupled with the present historically low interest rates makes now a fantastic time to sell your current home to buy another.
