Here’s why you may or may not need to make renovations before listing.

Let’s be honest: We’re currently in an insane real estate market. A balanced market has about six months of home inventory, but in Greater Kalamazoo, we have less than 1.5 months right now. That’s a massive discrepancy and means sellers are in control. There aren’t enough homes for sale to meet the increasing demand from buyers. You have to consider that when thinking about renovations. Time is of the essence—you need to move quickly.

HomeAdvisor.com recently announced that people in Generation Z, the oldest of whom are buying their first houses these days, are wanting to do more improvement projects themselves. Remodels and flips have become very popular. With all this in mind, it may not make sense to make many upgrades before you sell. However, some refurbishments might still be needed in your home before you list.

Reach out to your real estate agent to find out which projects do and don’t make sense for your house. Agents want to ensure you’re getting the best return on your investment (ROI).

This was just a quick overview, and I’d love to chat with you more or walk through your property to help you decide which projects make sense for your sale. Give me a call or send an email at your earliest convenience. Stay safe out there.
